Martin made a mistake in the braking zone at Balaton Park’s first turn and collided with teammate Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia satellite rider Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse.
Fermin Aldeguer on his Gresini Ducati was taken out of the contest while VR46 Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio was also mired in the melee but remounted his bike to finish 13th.
Aprilia confirmed no significant injuries for either of its riders.
“Regarding Marco Bezzecchi, medical checks have shown no visible fractures, he only has contusions on his right leg and hand,” the team said

For the carnage, Martin was slapped with a double-long-lap penalty that he will serve at Brno on June 19-21.

Rivola said the double DNF marked a massive come-down for the team after its one-two finish a week prior at Mugello.
In his post-race comments, Rivola labelled Martin’s mistake “a cold shower that we truly could have done without.”
“First of all, apologies to all the riders involved in the crash,” said Rivola.
“Second, I think today at the end is a lucky day because watching the crash, the outcome could be much worse for everybody. At the end, it’s a good day from that point of view.
“I spoke to Jorge very, very quickly. I am listening more than speaking, really. He was apologising with everybody.
“Still, it’s difficult to digest. A world champion I think cannot do a mistake like that – but it’s done, another lesson.”

The incident drew comparisons with Martin’s mistake at Motegi last year that drew an identical penalty.
Rivola cautioned that while the Hungary incident was unfortunate, it was not egregious like Japan.
“I think it’s quite different from the mistake he did in Japan,” said Rivola.
“In Japan, it was too optimistic. Here, it was just not behaving properly with the front braking in the wrong part of the track.”
Despite the sanction against his own rider, Rivola suggested MotoGP officials could have come down even harder on Martin.
“Maybe since we are speaking so much about the safety, I would not disagree if the penalty will be even stronger and harsher than that,” he said.
“Because the first corner is dangerous and these guys are risking already everywhere.”
The crash comes amid speculation that Martin will not be with Aprilia in 2027.
It’s expected that a series of silly season moves will mean KTM rider Pedro Acosta joins Marc Marquez at Ducati, while Ducati incumbent Francesco Bagnaia joins Marco Bezzecchi at Aprilia.
Martin, in turn, is expected to join the factory Yamaha team alongside Ai Ogura in a wholesale change as Fabio Quartararo moves to Honda and Joan Mir potentially lands at Gresini.
Bezzecchi leads the standings on 180 points ahead of Martin on 160 points and Di Giannantonio on 138 points.
MotoGP continues on June 19-21 at Brno, Czechia.
